Adventurous jeep tours

Jeep tour

Jeep tours are a nice way to explore Wadi Rum. We stop at the most beautiful and well-known places in the wadi and there is plenty of time to explore, take short walks among the dunes and rocks, take pictures or enjoy a cup of tea in the Bedouin tents.

That awaits you
The next day, depending on the length of your stay, we can go deeper into the wadi, stop at impressive spots and take short hikes in places where you will feel alone in the world and away from the crowds.

We are always on the road with the jeep. My guests sit on benches and enjoy the ride in the fresh air.  In a shady place we will have our lunch in between and take a short break. Bottled water is always plentiful.  Before sunset we reach our place for the night. This is always a different place for tours with more than one night.  Here I set up a camp with seat mats and cushions. A cozy fire burns in the center. I prepare a typical Bedouin dinner, make tea and after sunset the beautiful starry sky opens up.

Overnight
We will sleep on mats or in small tents. Blankets and pillows are available. We sleep here as is customary among Bedouins in the desert and will wake up in the morning to birdsong. Everything else is silent. After a good breakfast we drive back to your camp or to the tourist information. A night under the stars is a highlight at WadiRum. Here you are closest to the life of the Bedouins.

My recommendation
I recommend staying in the desert for two days to soak up the atmosphere and get a feel for my way of life in the desert.

Important information

I advise bringing sunscreen. Furthermore, a scarf, which serves as a headgear, should be included. A hat is inconvenient due to the headwind while driving the jeep. A small backpack for the day is also useful. A flashlight or headlamp as well as toilet paper and small plastic bags for disposing of your rubbish are very useful for the night-time “toilet visit”.

Clothing: comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Good hiking shoes or trekking sandals with socks and a fleece or large, warm sweater for the night.

As for the sanitary facilities, there are neither showers nor toilets in the desert, but since the desert is huge, you can always find a quiet corner.

In general, it is important to always have a small plastic bag with you for rubbish. There will also be a trash can in the car.

Yes, thanks to the bivouac sites I have chosen (protected by the rock), the wood fire and our large blankets, the camp temperature is always comfortable and we sleep outside all year round.

Important: I cannot wash our mattresses and blankets between every visitor. If you are sensitive and would like to sleep on a very clean sheet, please bring your own duvets and sheets.

I work exclusively in hiking bivouacs. In fact, I am against any idea of fixed camps. These unfortunately too many and mostly illegal permanent installations destroy the landscape.

At the end of the day, I choose a spot sheltered by a rock and set up camp. We spend the evening, have dinner and sleep under the beautiful starry sky, warmed by the wood fire. Falling asleep looking at the Milky Way is an unforgettable experience. That’s why I prefer the nights under the stars.
